WeWorld-GVC is a Participation Foundation, registered in the Register of Legal Persons of the Prefecture of Milan. It is an NGO registered in the’ List of Civil Society Organizations pursuant to art. 26 of Law no. 125 of ’11 August 2014. It is an ONLU S by right pursuant to Legislative Decree no. 460 of 4/12/1997.

People

The people who work with WeWorld are our most valuable asset. Over the past year, 1,379 people have collaborated with WeWorld. In Italy, 414 people were employed, 74 on employee contracts and 94 collaborators, with an average age of 38. In addition, we worked with 237 people between occasional collaborators and VAT numbers (a total of 251 women and 163 men). Abroad, 965 people were employed: 151 expatriates and 814 as local staff.

For WeWorld, young people are the main protagonist for change towards a more equitable society and for this reason we invest in their involvement and training. In 2023, we welcomed 142 young people, including interns, trainees, volunteers, the Civil Service, and the European Solidarity Corps European Volunteer Program. Girls and boys received 953 hours of training divided between security, on-job training and classroom training. Over the past year, 11 young people have had a collaboration contract with WeWorld upon completion of their training.

Governance

The social bodies that make up our Participation Foundation are:

  • The College of Promoters and the College of Members, with the powers identified by the Statute, including that of appointing and dismissing members of the Board of Directors, and the power to express non-binding opinions and proposals on the Foundation's activities and programs. The College of Promoters is composed of 5 people from outside the Foundation, while the College of Members is made up of 40 people.
  • The Board of Directors composed of 8 members appointed jointly by the two Colleges. All the powers of ordinary and extraordinary administration of the Foundation are attributed to it. The current Board of Directors is composed of: Rossella Beria, Marco Chiesara, Dina Taddia, Elio Borgonovi, Annamaria Fellegara, Franca Guglielmetti, Wainer Stagnini and Cecilia Roselli.
  • The President of the Board of Directors is also the President of the Foundation, appointed by the Board of Directors from among its members, and exercises all the powers of initiative necessary for the smooth administrative and institutional functioning of the Foundation. The current President of WeWorld is Marco Chiesara
  • The Managing Director, appointed by the Board of Directors from among its members, oversees the management of the Foundation's activities. The current position is held by Dina Taddia.
  • The Board of Auditors, composed of 3 full members (Elisa Torri, Mauro Graziano Turri and Roberto Cerioli as President) and 2 alternates (Tommaso Maria Freyrie and Silvia Pattacini). The Board of Auditors verifies compliance with the statutory and regulatory rules of the Foundation, supervises compliance with the law and the statute of the activity and financial management.

The Foundation has also acquired the role of Internal Audit, with a third-level control function to verify the completeness, functionality, and adequacy of the Internal Control System and which reports to the Foundation President. It also established the’ Supervisory Body with the task of overseeing the implementation and compliance with the Code of Ethics and Conduct and the Model of Organization, Management and Control pursuant to Legislative Decree 231, composed of Maria Alessandra Capè, Giovanni Catellani and Paolo Zalera, who chairs it.

With the aim of providing strategic support to the foundation, strengthening its governance and positioning, an Advisory Board was established in 2023 composed of Elena di Giovanni, Sabika Shah Povia, John Hooks, Carmelo Reale, Maria Cristina Origlia, Paolo Iacci, and Lara Carrese

Gender Equality Certification – July 2024

We are committed to promoting an inclusive environment that supports gender equality and celebrates diversity in all its forms. In line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we recognize that gender equality is not only an essential human right, but also a fundamental basis for building a peaceful, resilient, prosperous and sustainable world.

In July 2024, we obtained the Gender Equality certification, for the “Measures to ensure gender equality in the context of work and activities carried out by the Foundation".
