Education is not only a fundamental need: it is the basis for realising every child's right to a future. Without safe, quality and accessible education, no community can truly grow. That is why we work to ensure that every person has access to educational opportunities that will lead them to a better future.

How we guarantee access to education

We are present in many countries around the world to ensure access to education by creating and strengthening safe, inclusive and quality learning environments. Our work begins with ensuring protected spaces where children and adolescents can learn, grow and feel safe. We involve the entire educational community — teachers, families, school staff and institutions — to build equitable and inclusive education systems.

Our projects include formal and informal educational pathways, psychosocial support activities, art workshops and global citizenship education initiatives [link to further information] so that every young person can develop skills, awareness and participation.

In countries such as Tanzania and Kenya, we support children through educational and artistic activities designed for minors with disabilities, those in need of psychological support or survivors of abuse. These programmes promote expression, creativity and emotional well-being. We also offer study support services to strengthen learning and reduce the risk of school dropout.

In contexts such as Syria and Tanzania, we place great emphasis on the continuous professional development of teachers and educational staff: we provide tools, skills and training to create inclusive learning environments, even where resources are extremely limited.

We are also committed to ensuring quality education in crisis and humanitarian emergency contexts.

In Italy, we work to combat early school leaving and educational poverty.

Through our national programme Frequenza200, we work with schools and communities to strengthen school participation and ensure equal educational opportunities. → Link to the page “Education in Italy”

Long-distance support

Through our Long-distance Support (SAD) programme, we support children so that they can go to school, receive a healthy meal and access medical care.

In countries such as Cambodia and Kenya, SAD has a strong community dimension: we improve the skills of students, teachers and school staff, promote attendance through home visits and scholarships, and strengthen the bond between families, schools and communities. Young people, participation and the right to a future

We believe that the right to a future also depends on the ability of the younger generation to participate in and contribute to change. For this reason, we promote youth participation and active citizenship education to combat social and environmental injustices. Link to the participate page / ECG
