Middle East
For over 30 years, we have been working alongside communities in South-West Asia – the area known as the Middle East – adapting our response to the real needs of people on a daily basis.
Protracted crises, instability and uncertainty are the order of the day and know no boundaries. That is why our programme goes beyondand embraces an entire region, with a watchful eye and concrete action. Here, as in all the areas where we operate, we stand with people, from the margins to the centre. We bring help where it is needed, and, day after day, we build paths to development that can last over time.
We have never stopped being there, in Lebanon, Palestine and Syria. Even during the the most challenging times, we have remained and will continue to do so.
We have been operating in Palestine since 1992 – in the West Bank since 1992 and in Gaza since 1997 – to contribute with concrete responses to a long-running crisis with the aim of activating development processes beyond the emergency, responding to needs that evolve over time. In Gaza, in recent years, we have adapted our interventions to respond to the most urgent needs related to the ongoing humanitarian emergency
In Syria, where we have been present since 2011, our work focuses on access to education, water and sanitation, as well as the creation of livelihood opportunities. We want to strengthen the resilience of the Syrian population and support local capacities, which are essential for the reconstruction of the country and its economy.
We have been in Lebanon since 2006 to support people in the most marginalised and vulnerable situations through multi-sector emergency responses, together with long-term interventions for water management, access to livelihoods and local economic development.
