Through the “Rebooting the food system” project, young Europeans will play a leading role in promoting sustainable and inclusive solutions for a fairer food system at local and global level. The initiative aims to involve young people in campaigns supporting producers and workers in global food supply chains, promoting the inclusion of agroecological principles in national and European food policies. Particular attention is paid to gender equality, so that the voices of activists and workers from different countries around the world are heard and listened to.

Activities

  • Campaigning: through multimedia content, events, festivals - in particular the WeWorld Festivals in Milan and Bologna - flash mobs, and information stands, we raise public awareness of the challenges of the global food system and propose due diligence and agroecology as alternative models.
  • Youth mobilization: through global citizenship education and capacity building activities – from the Exponi le tue Idee program to the WeWorld Academy – we train and support young people aged 15 to 30 to become “ambassadors” for an agri-food system that respects human and environmental rights. The most active young people will have the opportunity to make their voices heard at international youth conferences, field visits to extra-EU countries, and advocacy processes. In addition, through sub-granting mechanisms, we provide financial support to youth organizations and groups at the national and European level to promote the project’s themes.
  • Research and advocacy: we conduct research and studies on human, social, and environmental rights violations in agri-food supply chains in Italy and around the world; we organise and participate, including through our networks, in advocacy and lobbying initiatives from the local to the European level, supporting the adoption of the European Directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence and standards based on the principles of agroecology.
