As a new school year begins for millions of students in Italy, we are launching a new three-year programme with the support of Akelius Foundation: READI (Resilient Education and Digital Innovation). The initiative aims to strengthen education and child protection in Benin, Cambodia, Kenya, Lebanon, Syria, Tanzania and Ukraine.
The programme is built around four key pillars:
- expanding access to education;
- improving learning outcomes;
- promoting the inclusion and well-being of children and adolescents;
- strengthening education systems and local communities.
Through activities involving schools, teachers, families, local communities and public institutions, the initiative will help expand equitable access to quality education while fostering safe and supportive learning environments.
One of the programme’s most innovative features is the use of the Akelius digital language-learning platform, already widely used in educational settings around the world. Through interactive lessons, multimedia resources and tailored learning activities, the platform helps strengthen language skills and supports learning in fragile and crisis-affected contexts.
By combining technology with pedagogical support, the programme will equip teachers with new tools to make learning more accessible, engaging and effective. At the same time, it will strengthen the resources and educational opportunities available in participating schools and learning centres through the use of tablets and other digital technologies.
