We are pleased to announce our participation, under the leadership of World Vision, in the upcoming Humanitarian Talk titled: “Integrated Approaches to Education in Times of Crisis: Ensuring Protection, Building Resilience, Inspiring Hope.”
The event on May 19 in Brussels, is part of the European Humanitarian Forum (EHF), and is co-organized by ChildFund Alliance, Global Education Cluster, Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS), Save the Children, UNICEF, WeWorld, and World Vision.

The event

This session highlights the importance of coordinated, integrated, risk-informed and play-based approaches to ensure rapid education responses in fragile and conflict-affected contexts.
Children, education experts, field practitioners and donors will discuss how learning, well-being, and protection are essential to strengthening children’s resilience during crises.
Insights will also be shared from integrated education programmes currently underway in the Sahel, the West Bank, and Nigeria.

As WeWorld, we are proud to have invited Marta Collu, Coordinator of the Humanitarian Aid and Fragility Unit and Gender Equality Focal Point at AICS, who will join the session to present the relevance of the Nexus approach in education programmes across emergency and development contexts and the relevant Italian national guidelines, as well as the operational manual.

The Policy Brief

At the same time, together with EDUCO and ChildFund Alliance, have published a policy brief on the application of the Nexus in Education, based on a study by IECAH conducted in Mozambique and Burkina Faso.
The brief also includes references to some of our most effective programmatic approaches in education.

The brief outlines how nexus-aligned programmes can tackle structural inequalities, promote peacebuilding, and strengthen local leadership. The document also outlines good practices from fieldwork, such as conflict-sensitive education tools, community-led DRR initiatives, and inclusive curriculum development. The key recommendations for donors and practitioners to operationalize the Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) Nexus in education are also included, with good practices from WeWorld’s experience in Mozambique and Educo’s experience in Burkina Faso.
