In Burundi, the rural population suffers from scarcity and difficult provision of water, which negatively affects local development.

The project aims to strengthen the management of water services in the Municipalities of the provinces of Bururi and Rumonge and in four Municipalities of the Province of Mwaro. To achieve this goal, GVC is going to: organise calls for tenders to determine service suppliers, based on data gathered by GIZ in 2017 and on questionnaires distributed to users; establish criteria for economic sustainability to attract suppliers and launch the call for tenders; select suppliers and involve them in technical, administrative and management trainings in the water supply field; redefine the roles and reinforce the coordination between supervisors, providers and users; develop methods to monitor the service and user satisfaction.
