In the Bekaa Valley, the scarcity of water resources and the increase in demand from the Lebanese communities and Syrian refugees have led to the need to promote sustainable management of available resources.

GVC intends to improve demand management and cost recovery in the water sector, to make public water provision sustainable. In collaboration with the Bekaa Water Establishment, GVC supports UNHCR in improving water infrastructure in the three towns of Qab Elias, Riyak and Nassiriyeh. Specifically, GVC carries out awareness campaigns for the protection of resources, promotion campaigns for the subscription to the public service and installation of domestic water meters, with the final aim of strengthening the Lebanese institutions and improving the service for citizens.
