TANZANIA: A FIVE DAYS TRAINING SESSION FOR 60 YOUNG REPORTERS

On Monday, We World – GVC in partnership with Tanzania Bora Initiative (TBI), Kiota Women Health and Development Organization (KIWOHEDE), Tanzania Data Lab (dLab) and Tanzania Development Information Organization (TADIO) officially opened a five days training session for 60 Young Reporters in Dar es Salaam. The session was opened by Hon. Mr. Nassibu Mwaifunga from the Prime Minister’s Office responsible for Policy, Parliamentary Affairs, Labour, Employment, Youth and the Disabled.

This training is part of the project titled “Sauti Mpya. CSOs-media partnership for amplifying youth and women’s voices”, co-funded by the European Union and We World – GVC in partnership with TBI, KIWOHEDE, dLab and TADIO and whose objective is “to strengthen CSOs role in promoting women’s and youth’s freedom of expression, access to information and awareness on fundamental freedoms” in the regions of Mbeya, Mtwara and Kigoma.

This training session is part of the Capacity Building program aiming at improving CSOs’ capacity in dealing with media and young reporters’ knowledge, skills and competencies in human rights reporting. During this week in Dar es Salaam, Young Reporters will also participate to the launching of the 2020 – 2025 Tanzania Youth Manifesto and will have the opportunity to meet with peers and explore youth’s priorities in the coming General Election. The 60 Young Reporters from Mbeya, Mtwara and Kigoma will attend further training sessions on human rights, quality journalism and media production in collaboration with the Open University of Tanzania (Department of Journalism and media Studies) and the Union of Tanzania Press Clubs (UTPC).
