Through the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, the international community committed to ensuring health and wellbeing for all people of all ages by 2030. In this context, our project aims to promote maternal and child healthcare in the municipality of Thiès Nord, Senegal, where sanitary services for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers and children under two years of age are not adequate. The project encourages the integration of different levels of sanitary services (from the national to the local one), enhances pre- and postnatal services and provides the nursing staff as well as the femmes relais (traditional midwives) with trainings. The community, especially pregnant women and mothers, benefit from awareness and empowerment campaigns, from trainings on nutritional education, as well as from the launch of a mobile healthcare service.
